The Dark Knight Rises

The United States of America really have a lot of reasons to be proud of their country. One of them is that they are on place 8 after South Africa, Colombia, Thailand, Zimbabwe,Mexico, Belarus and Costa Rica with the amount of 0,028 by 1.000 persons killed by weapons . Also on the following places are countries which are known for their high political culture and democratic tradition. It is sad to see how the "homeland of freedom" as I had to read in the museum on Ellis Island, New York, sold the freedom completely.

"I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands"

This is a slogan used by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and made popular by the actor Charlton Heston, who was the president of the NRA from 1998-2003. It made me freeze to see how he sold his soul to the American weapon industries and making propaganda for them. If you have not seen yet the documentation "Bowling for Columbine" by Michael Moore I really encourage you to see it. The reality about the usage of weapons in the "Great Nation" is more funny than every comedy and more spooky than every horror movie. Here is part one, find the others in Youtube:

Nino Vichan dares to be inspired by a serious topic like this for an installation in Second Life as he did before with Genocide, Birth Giving in chains and  Homelessness.

Nino uses examples of mass killings with legally purchased weapons and starts with a story:

"On July 20, 2012, during a midnight screening of the film 'The Dark Knight Rises' at the Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, James Eagan Holmes, dressed in tactical clothing, set off tear gas grenades and began shooting into the audience, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others.

James Holmes purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the unregulated Internet; 3000 rounds of ammunition for his pistols, 3000 rounds for the M&P15, and 350 shells for his shotgun.
The images of bullets surrounding this room are fewer then half the number of bullets he bought."

The installation is not very easy to digest, one needs a bit patience to follow the story and to read all the information but the topic is very much worth it.

It is one of the many examples where misled values, used by an industrial lobby for profit maximization are destroying our health and lifes. There are enough in Europe too.
